1) TRADITIONAL
An actual place of eternal torment for the lost
Some Calvinist believe some end up there by the will of God while others believe people end up there by human choice.
Catholicism teaches a two-fold approach: Purgatory & Hell
2) ANNIHILATIONISM
"Hell" is the Lake of Fire at the End which burns up the wicked once & for all. Not an eternally burning place.
The human "soul" is NOT immortal.
The dead are dead until the resurrection.
3) UNIVERSALISM
ALL will be saved.
If "Hell" exists at all, it is a temporary place.
Job 4:17
1Timothy 6:15,16
That place to lay would then be the grave until the resurrection:
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
some to everlasting life,
and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Daniel 12:2
3) UNIVERSALISM
ALL will be saved.
If "Hell" exists at all, it is a temporary place.
But between these 2 PILLARS of Scripture on
the State-of-the-Dead is where the truth lay.
Man is MORTAL
Shall mortal man be more just than God?Job 4:17
God is IMMORTAL
...the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto;1Timothy 6:15,16
That place to lay would then be the grave until the resurrection:
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
some to everlasting life,
and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Daniel 12:2
So the Biblical View would be...ANNIHILATIONISM
